In Need of Some Inspiration....

I am working on decorating a home for someone and have been looking around for something inspiring that I might have pushed in the back of my head somewhere. It is hard when you don't know the person and they really aren't sure what style they want . Not to mention my client's husband told her that their home would "never feel cozy because it is too big." ( it is roughly 10,000 sq.ft.) Yes that is 4 zeros after that 1. So I am up for quite a challenge, thank goodness we are taking this "little" project one room at a time. My client does like the old mixed with the new, and she seems to like arcitechtual pieces as well so I found these pics of my own home and how I incorporated them throughout. I hung the ceiling tin "as is" like a peice of art, in the foyer I created an entry table using old brackets and a wooden top, and the window treatment in my breakfast nook is hung by old door knobs in my favorite finish to which I have no name, it's not rust and not bronze, shall we call it brust? Anyway let me know what you think. Paula

Spring...Bring it On!

Maybe it's because I have been meeting myself coming and going, but I have definately had writers block lately. Then spring has started to creep in here and there and the world is new again. We have cut the grasses, cleaned the beds, I've cleaned the house, and washed all the cars so I say come on spring...bring it on, I am ready! After the local greenhouses set out all their flowers I will say goodbye to the inside of my house for about 3 months. WooHoo...I can't wait. This is the spring wreath I made a couple of years ago he has faded a bit and could stand some freshening up but I have grown attached to him and I think I'll keep him around a little longer ( wait am I talking about my wreath or my husband of 19 years...). Here's hoping you all have a day filled with the smells of new grass, the chirping of baby birds and the joy of watching this wonderful world we live in making itself new again. Happy Spring, Paula

What's In a Name?

I am so excited I can hardly stand myself. My camera is on the fritz and my pics are blurry but I had to post anyway. I received a sample of my business cards on Friday and I am in love! My great friends Amy and Mario designed them and I think they are perfect. Why is it only now that I feel "official"? Please tell me what you think. Have a great day, Paula

For the Love of Nesting

I am having one of those weeks where I feel like I am meeting myself coming and going. And I am not ashamed to say " I miss home!". I am used to having a whole day to put on the music, light my favorite Tyler candle which just happens to be Limelight (it smells like a key lime pie and I highly recommend it) and clean, clean, clean, and it just isn't happening for me this week. It is a week full of birthdays(my son turns 15), picking up orders, getting ready for a consignment sale that I am participating in, cooking, dance classes for my daughter etc. I never thought I would miss a clean house so much ( I am a bit Obsessive Compulsive about having a clean and tidy environment). So here's to Nesting....I'm in the process of scheduling a date with Mr. Clean, Comet, and Windex for Friday, I hope they return my calls. Have wonderful and clean day!

Spa Day Anyone?

I watched a program last night on the E channel about how celebrities stay so beautiful...and that is a job in it's self. I laughed as I sat there and watched, seeing that it has been 18 years since I have had an uninterrupted bath. Bathtime is when my girls want to sit and "talk" (they are 9 and 18). I know that they must find this time to be the best to get me all to themselves. I know I will miss it someday so I roll with it. I think I must give the best advice when I'm semi relaxed after a long day. But a day at some wonderful spa with nothing but silence would be great every once in a while. Anyone up for a day at the spa?

Family Tray

I think this is my favorite tray so far. I love family heirlooms and this photo is one of my all time favorites(besides my daddy's baby picture which doesn't fit in this frame). My husband's grandmother gave me this photo of my father in law and I love the way he is pouting. I can imagine he threw quite the fit after this was shot. The crucifix is off my grandmother's casket. My dad gave it to me a couple of years ago. It hung above my bedroom door my entire childhood, but until I was grown I never new he took it off his mothers casket when he was just 15 years old. He and his mother were very close (she made him promise when he had a daughter that he would name her Paula Renee'-hence the old lady name) so when he gave it to me I was very honored. Have a wonderful day...create a family heirloom of your own! Paula
